Cafundó, with audience participation, brought the characters of Boi de Mamão to life in this interactive installation at the Florianópolis Museum.
How about bringing the native dance Boi de Mamão characters to life on the screen? Alongside the Florianópolis Museum, Cafundó created an interactive installation where the characters colored by the audience came to life on the screen.
In the installation, visitors, especially children and the elderly, insert the characters they have colored themselves into the scenes. Visitors are provided with illustrated sheets featuring Boi de Mamão characters to color according to their preference. After completing the coloring, the drawings are scanned, and software converts these illustrations into animations that are projected on the screen, interacting with the animated backdrop.
Boi de Mamão is one of the most distinctive and popular cultures of Florianópolis. To do justice to this beautiful tradition, we recreated the city center in the scenes, illustrated friendly characters, all set to an acoustic and charming soundtrack. As the song goes: "Let's go to the village to see my bull dance!"
